Ring SizingsRings need resizing for a variety of reasons. The most typical being an increase or decrease in body weight, an accident causing permanent damage to the finger or arthritis causing the knuckle to enlarge. You know it is time to resize your ring when:-- the ring falls off your finger when you wash your hands - you can`t take your ring off without using soap
- you can`t take your ring off at all Cutting a ring off your finger. We have the tools to cut your ring off your finger if it is stuck fast. Affectionately nick-named "the chainsaw" we use a hand saw designed specifically for this purpose. For most people this is a pain free process but if your finger is extremely swollen we may look at alternative methods to help keep the discomfort at a bearable level. We take no pleasure at all in causing pain so it`s best if you come in before the ring gets so tight you can`t move it! Once your ring has been removed, we will need to resize and repair it. We often find that the finger has been restricted by the ring and can tell this by the pale white band of skin beneath where the ring was. If we measure it right then, it gives us a false reading of your finger size. If this is the case, we usually advise that you refrain from wearing any rings on that finger for approximately four weeks. This gives your finger time to heal and the skin to bounce back and start looking like all your other fingers! Once you think your finger is "back to normal", we will be able to measure your finger size accurately and resize the ring so it goes back where it belongs...on your finger. |
